Youth Duels can be a bit of headache but in the end most of the kids enjoy the different format from the normal tourney. Every year Glen Este wrestles a Battle for 32 against Western Brown (youth vs youth, MS vs MS, HS vs HS) and my youth kids absolutly love it. Even if they lose their match they still have a chance to win through the team. As for weight classes get with Mason they do an excellent job at running Mason super duels and the weight classes are on par with most youth squads.

True but at the same time a multiple olympic gold medal athlete is competing in HS just to be apart of the team she grew up with.

I was at the coaches meeting where we voted on removing the five match rule. If i remember right there were three options. 1 change to USA wrestling rules and eliminate the five match rule. 2 switch to a two day tourney. 3 a different format where a first round losers could only get seventh place. The two day tourney wasnt possible for a few reasons and no one cared for the third option so the voted went to getting rid of the five match rule. I personally dont see an issue with kids wrestling six matches. They are only three 1:30 periods im sure most coaches push them harder than that at practice.

seems like the only one on here hidding behind the computer is you. I think the MS state tourney in KY is ran ten times better than the vaunted OAC in Ohio. Atleast the one in KY isnt a giant money grab.

Due to a last minute cancelation Glen Este is looking for a middle school team to fill in this weekend Dec 8th. Because it is in Ohio only seventh and eighth graders can compete.
