Outstanding job to both Sean and John. FILA Cadet top 3 for Sean is a great showing. All that hard work is paying off!! As far as Fahey goes, I thought you had to be in college in order to wrestle at University Nationals. For him to enter as a high school senior and come away with FILA University All-American is a big deal. This is another example of KY wrestling getting better every year. Good job also to Cooper and Lampe. It looks like both wrestled well and came close to placing. Too bad there weren't more KY kids in the tournament.

That is already the rule in KY. You can transfer from Private to Public without any penalty. If you transfer from Public to Private (without a change of residence) you have to sit out one year. Of course this only applies to kids already in high school not kids in this case that are going from 8th to HS.

Thanks for posting this. When you watch a story like this it puts all of whining about why my kid didn't get MOW into perspective.

They were required to catch 4 fish prior to regionals in order to be eligible for state.

I got to talk to John for a few minutes this weekend and was totally impressed with this kid. Many of us in NKY haven't had the opportunity to see him wrestle that often other than the state tournament and the Raider Rumble. I don't think I have ever seen him not totally dominate a match and that includes some of our best KY kids like TJ, Garth, Sean, etc when they were at the same weight. I didn't realize as well that he has placed at the Beast of the East 3 times and Super 32 2 times. There have been a lot of our top KY wrestlers go down to Super 32 the last 3-4 years an no one else has gotten on the podium even once. Some major victories against big names like Brandon Jeske, Norstrem, and a PA runner up (can't remember his name). Congrats to John on a stellar HS career and good luck.

Looks like the top 5 teams in the state will all be competing plus a few out of state teams. Still early so not everyone is down to weight but there should still be some good matchups.
-
congrats to John and his family. great representative of KY!

Buckman I think was probably the lowest ranked state champ (8th). Wood was ranked 6th and got 2nd. Hamilton was ranked 7th and got 3rd.

Potential high ranked matchups based on teams that competed last year: 119 #1, #4 125 #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 135 #1, #2 140 #2, #3, #4 160 #1, #2

sorry, I meant 2 pounds. Just wanted to make sure Ohio date was the same as KY.

do we get an extra pound on day 1 weigh in?

great win for ervin. bogus stalling call at the end. announcer called it "an early Christmas Gift". congrats to both ervin and fahy for placing. if i'm not mistaken fahy is now a multi-time placer at the beast. anyone know the history of KY placers?? I know of Ruschell, Reid, Murton, Hitchings, Ervin, Fahy (2x)

Pretty impressive victory over Norestrem St Champ and Fargo AA from Brandon Fl currently ranked 4th in the nation by Openmat. Way to go John getting KY out there on the national scene.

Any results? I know Ryle had several guys competing.
