According to the results he didn't pin all his opponents. 126 was considered to be a "weak" class comparative to 120 or 138 and Ochsenbein although talented wasn't expected to win the title. Saul was considered as a "lock" as a state titlist. I can only speak for myself but Ochsenbein beat a former (and a future (Moore) champion on the way to his title. To me that is the definition of outstanding. Sheffer may have been more dominant but the award is for Outstanding. JMO. To each his own.

    Upset Post

The North Hardin situation at the beginning of the year is the likeliest reason for this as a couple of their placers and/or transfers may have had a real chance if not for all the chaos. Johnson just fell victim to being in a class with some a studs just a little further along their development curve than him. Good luck to all.

    Wolverine Invitational @Western Hills

Weightclass Favorite Top Contender Top Contender Darkhorse 106/108 Adam Bender-(Lexington Catholic)-unbreakable strength for a 106. If he gets wrist control you are getting tilted and probable teched. CeJay Vaske(Boone Co.)-yo-yo’d between 106/113. Looks to be a solid play here for the podium. Joey Delong (Dixie Heights)-wrestled some tough competition. Expected to do well here. Elijah Thomas(J-Town)-young kid looks to have some success in this tournament. 113/115 Cordell Vaske(Boone Co.)-also spent time at 106 this year. Solid record against tough competition. Zack Farwick(Covington Catholic)-can he upset region 6 rival Vaske? Kevin Ensor (Tates Creek)-has a title at Defender of the Staton this year. Can he repeat? Ezavion Payton (Western Hills)-young grappler looks to score big team points. 120/122 Ben Lundy (South Oldham)-can he claim a title? Isaiah Newberry(J-Town)-will he be standing in the winners spot on the podium? Time will tell. Travis Coovert (Boone Co.)-one of many lightweight Boone Co. wrestlers who should do well. Blake Durham(Iroquois)-hopefully he gets a chance to wrestle outside of Jefferson Co. 126/128 Derrick Soper(Bryan Station)-needs to come on strong here at the end of the year. Chris Vaske(Boone Co.)-looks tough at this weight. Should qualify for state even in region 6. Ricky Purvis(Franklin Co.)-good strong wrestler who should do well. Zach Morgan(Tates Creek)-another Tates Creek champion at Bryan Station. Will need to dig deep to place here. 132/134 Ansar Kurbanov (Iroquois)-should place at state and win this tournament. Austin Nixon (Dixie Heights)-tough kid. Wrestled well in Ohio/NKY. Matthew Manns (Franklin Co.)-can he pull off a title in the cross town rivals gym? George Washington(J-Town)-does he have presidential game to go with a presidential name? Has he healed? Is he ready to go? 138/140 Nathaniel Lawrence (Franklin Co.)-not sure if at middle school regions. I fully expect him to be in a position to win a state title in the future. Daniel Branch(Covington Catholic)-likely Cov. Catholic’s best wrestler. Would be a major statement if he wins this tournament. Wesley Whelan (Ashland)-should be a contender to win this tournament. Brady Gibson(Tates Creek)-can he live up to his ranking this week…Saw some fire against Johnson Central…let’s see. 145/147 Rawleigh Richardson(J-Town)-beat some tough competition at 152 but has struggled at 145 Odeh Eqal (Tates Creek)-ranked kid who seems to have split time at 160/152 before settling at 145. James Barrie (Dixie Heights)-tough kid. If he could pick up a title here might clinch a team title for Dixie Heights. Blake Day(Ashland)-another Ashland wrestler who should place. 152/154 Clayton Warren(South Oldham)-hasn’t wrestled since 5-Star. If he’s wrestling this week he’s at #1. Jacob Weaver (J-Town)-had a nice run at the JCTOC, can he replicate it here? Elias Eqal (Tates Creek)-highly ranked, has suffered some defeats. Looks to rebound here. JD Cross (Boone Co.)-recent drop to 152. Will it pay off? 160/162 Matthew Munoz(Dixie Heights)-only ranked 13th in state. In my opinion he will place. Under ranked for sure. Joey Scribano(Madison Southern)-will provide stiff competition for Munoz. Devon Comley (West Jessamine)-the best chance the Colts have to place someone at this tournament. Cubaka Mutayongwa (Tates Creek)-had to go track to spell his name. Kid has game. Watched him for the first time against Johnson Central. Here’s his chance to prove he belongs. 170/172 Aaron Valentine (Franklin Co.)-has improved each year. Should be a placing contender this year at a tough weight. Max Knabel(South Oldham)-tough schedule should have prepared him for this chance. Vance Krueger(Ashland)-limited mat time but impressive record when out there. Sam Kauer (Madison Southern)-if he wants to qualify for state. Must place in this tournament. 182/184 Evan Rademaker(South Oldham)-consistent performer. Deserves this spot. Jackson Sora (Covington Catholic)-wrestling in region 6 doesn’t allow young wrestlers the chance to grow slowly. It’s sink or swim. This tournament might be the chance he needs to shine. Evan Hanus (Western Hills)-can the hometown kid get the Wolverines on the podium? Jay Layne (Ashland)-Haven’t seen any results in a while. What does it mean? Favorite if he’s here. Will he be? 195/197 Grant Krueger(Ashland)-lost a couple to Bernabe over the Christmas Break but that won’t dampen his hopes in a state run. Roy Bowers (Dixie Heights)-this team does something right when it comes to big guys. Dixie is really tough in the upper weights. Brad Bailey (South Oldham)-can he match up with Krueger?? Good tournament to see where he stands. Bilal Mamedov (Iroquois)- is he still wrestling? Contender if he’s there. 220/222 Brandon Reed(Iroquois)-great chance for him to get some matches in prior to the regional tournament and expected run at a state title. Iroquois has produced a few quality big guys over the years one notable was heavyweight James Payne. Damoreon Travis(J-Town)-young wrestler learning the sport. I expect him to figure it out and place this year at state. Kairus Washington (Dixie Heights)-not the highest ranked kid here. He’s faced the best competition and I expect it to pay off. Jose Martinez-Tates Creek. Ranked kid with a chance to prove a lot. 285/287 Ahmad Hameidan (Boone Co.)-very similar to Malala from J-Town, no doubt in my mind he will place this year. How high is the question… Lawrence Malala(J-Town)- very defensive wrestler at heavy. Expect a low scoring match. Always in a position to win. Justus Williams (Madison Southern)-best athlete at heavyweight. Looks the part of a dominant wrestler. Expect to place at state in 5-8 range. Shakien Boyd(Iroquois)-hasn’t wrestled a ton this year. Unfortunate byproduct of the turmoil surrounding the Iroquois. This is a tough tournament to get a read on. There should be 5-6 teams competing for the title at the end. Dixie Heights seems to be the favorite on paper. Boone Co. looks like they will win their fair share of titles. Tates Creek looks to be the deepest all through the lineup but do they have anyone that can step up and win a title? Team Race 1. Dixie Heights 2. Boone Co. 3. Tates Creek 4. Jeffersontown 5. Ashland 6. South Oldham 7. Franklin Co. 8. Iroquois 9. Madison Southern 10. Bryan Station No idea if all these kids will show up. This is only for fun. Hopefully this one gets in. Good luck to all. 220 and 285 look to be the deepest weights. I think there will be a lot of fireworks from 132-170 as well. Yes, I probably missed a ton of kids that will place also.
  10. Once again, you don't address the argument. The only person on this thread who has "ambushed" or talked negatively about anyone is you. Address the fact that you knocked numerous Ky. wrestlers. Someone who supports Ky. wrestling wouldn't do that. I'll re-iterate for the 3rd time I think Erdman is the man. You mention assumed facts and insinuate falsehoods, then you go on to do that in your own post. I've bolded that part for you. Since I've proceeded to stomp a mudhole in every argument you've made today. I'm going to take a break from Kentucky Wrestling and enjoy my "aura of greatness" that has enveloped me after "winning" this argument".
  11. No it's not an attempt at either. It's a statement of fact. You may not like that but it is what it is. I think Erdman is a great wrestler who represents this state with class. He got beat. If you can't handle that it's not my issue. You can continue to deny whatever you want. I've never said anything about anyone personally. I've stated fact after fact.
  12. Thanks for the compliment!! D1 wrestling in central Ohio is the weakest part of the state. Once again I've used facts to support myself. All you do is provide opinion. Centreville has all the potential in the world. They are not above average though. Any time anyone disagrees with you on this site, you resort to ad hominem attacks. If you would support yourself with actual facts people might be more inclined to agree with you. I know you don't really care if people disagree with you or not. The same way I don't care if you agree with me or not. I'll continue to provide facts and knowledgeable information.
  13. Here's the D-1 results from last year in Ohio. Where's Centreville???????? An above average team would certainly be in the top 20?? Can't find them...Me neither. Don't let the facts stand in the way of your story. Better start reinforcing that house.

  15. No. Centreville is not an above average school. It's amazing how it matters when you think it is true, but when you get called out on the hyperbole it doesn't matter anymore.
