Personally, I like looking at the rankings, but that's not what I was referring to. I was calling them both underrated in wrestling circles in the Louisville area. You always here about the Fahys, Lampes, and countless others. All of them are more than deserving, but in my opinion these two young men are also having stellar seasons. That was all, and because this is the internet and tone cannot be conveyed, I am being sincere about all wrestlers being deserving when they succeed.

My personal opinion, Barrow at 145, and Hinkle at 152 are two of the most underrated wrestlers. We'll see how they perform coming down the stretch of the season, and hopefully under the lights in Frankfort. Good luck to both.

Might be biased also, but I'd say that's pretty impressive. One of Hinkle's only losses if I'm correct.

What was 145 like. I saw the Whalen won, was it an easy path for him. What about Barrow from FC and Proctor from SO, thought one of them would be in the finals.
  5. Coaches Hosting Tournaments: My name is Roderick Pack, and I am the head coach at the Academy at Shawnee. We took our body fat test yesterday and I have 5 kids on my team. Realistically, I can only expect to have maybe 3 or 4 on any given Saturday. That being said, I was wondering if any of you that are hosting individual tournaments would be willing to allow us to enter your tournament, knowing this is a last minute request. After talking it over with my assistant, we do not feel that we'll have much of a team at all we take these kids to more than a couple of dual tournaments. Thanks so much for your consideration this late in the game. Please PM if you're willing Coach Pack The Academy @ Shawnee
  6. Fellow Coaches, I've been thrown to the wolves so to speak and recently asked to take over the Shawnee Wrestling program. Being frank, we are in desperate need of weekend touraments to participate in. We have a fairly small team (probably less than 10), and are trying to stay close to the Louisville area as much as possible. Will anyone that may be able to fit us in please send me a private message. It doesn't seem fair or right for this team to only have three saturday tournaments besides Regionals during the year. Even if you have to put our team with "not full" team, anything help you all can provide will be greatly appreciated. Frankly, resources and funds may be an issue, so the quicker you respond the more likely we will be to participate. Thanks for your time. Coach Roderick Pack The Academy @ Shawnee

Best wrestler never to win a state championship?

But he didn't so he's not, he got the state championship he earned...But nice subtle attempt at getting us to talk about Trinity some more. How about this? Who wants to talk about high school coaches that stayed in Frankfort an extra day to talk/"recruit" at the elementary state tournament. Wonder about the legality of that? What about the what that says about what a person's willing to do to win. Maybe that's the same type of person who's willing to influence a young ref to get a pin, that you now is not? Congrats to Grant, he definitely did work during the state tourney. I was one who was rooting for Terrence, but that doesn't necessitate that I was rooting againt Grant.

    Toughest Region to qualify from

Clearly written by someone who has has sometime away from the sport and truly understands it's value. More than any other sport, we make boys into men. Being a participant at the state level and seeing what it's like must add to people's maturity...not distract from it.

And I wish our 145, 152, 171, 189, and HWY hadn't quit....that might have made a little bit more competetion. Not much though :-o

    Toughest Region to qualify from

I'm pretty sure everyone in Region 5 feels this way. Realignment would be best, as long as it's done logically. I like the idea of 32 man brackets for the inclusiveness and atmosphere of state, but everyone should get their because they earned it. We all know Spencer's a great wrestler, darn shame he doesn't feel like placing 1st in the region validates that. Good thing he understands the man makes the medal, not the other way around.
