Top 10 Best Kentucky Wrestlers from the past 5 years
Rob Boston replied to FalconWrestling's topic in 2013 Season
Joe Carr jr got 2nd and was a 3XAA in Fargo and Mike Benson also from Woodford AA in 1991. I think until this year they were the only 2 that ever AA at the Junior level. I agree with Cougar I would take Nathan off the list but the kid he wrestled wasnt 106 this year. Joe Carr sr was a champion but wrestled in PA at that time. These archieves can be found on the USA wrestling website. Nice job Sean.. Mpire and IWIN I am sure Nathan appreciates the support...Good luck to all this season... -
9-1 at super 32. He revenged his only loss. He should move up a lot in the National ranking very soon. Great job John!!!

We are having a training camp this weekend in Indianapolis. The Head coach at Lawrence North highschool will be running all 5 intense sessions. This camp is intended to help kids get ready for the super 32 and preseason nationals. If you have any questions feel free to give me a call. The cost is $100 for all (5) session. Rob Boston replied to Rob Boston's topic in 2010 Season
We are having an intensive wrestling camp this weekend at Lawrence North High School. The featured clinician will be a 2X NCAA champion. We have had numerous state champions, National AA's and National Champions train with us over the years. I apologize for the late notice. If you have any questions feel free to give me a call at 1-317-313-4281. The cost is $100 Saturday sessions will be 9:00am-11:00am 12:30pm-2:30pm 4:00pm-6:00pm Sunday sessions will be 9:00am-11:00am 12:30pm-2:30pm We will drill High crotch, single leg, double leg, and many other common takedowns with high intensity. We will also be working on our hand fighting skills. When the weekend is over you will have gained tons of confidence in your leg attacks and hand fighting abilities. We will work on the front headlock series. We will also work on top and bottom position. The technique we teach will work at all levels. I hope to see you there. Give me a call if you need directions or have questions about the local hotels. It would be nice to see Brock Ervin, Garth Yenter, Justin Oliver, and Nathan Boston get after it this weekend. -

Newfan13, I understand your frustration but its not up to the coach to allow or not to allow this to happen. If he made a legitimate move you cant stop him from wrestling. What grounds are you going to use to keep him from wrestling? He is too good? I really think everyone needs to move past this and talk about Travis K., Caleb or Brock Ervin, Fahy or whoever.. Talk about positive things that we can control.. Don't let this eat at you... I am really glad to see that we stopped attacking each other on this topic. Everyone be safe this weekend. -

Grappler-of-old, I am sorry that you don't agree with my comments. However, I am not going to debate it with you. You have 84 pages of posts, that equals to 1320 posts total. Therefore I have no doubt that you will argue your point until the cows come home... It took me about 3 minutes and two phone calls to figure out who you are.. I think I asked politely that no one post again about these topics, for the better of our sport.. I have had several emails thanking me for supporting this issue. Grappler, If you have something to say to me please PM. I am sorry for your losses, however lets not use your losses as a benchmark to evaluate the level of bashing a kid should endure. Thanks again for your understanding, Rob Boston -

Guys, I enjoy Kentucky wrestling as much as anyone. I am always there to talk about the future studs of Kentucky. However, I am surprised about how this great message board has turned into a circus act. I am asking that no one attacks a kid, parent or religion while on this board. Lets be responsible with our comments. I have heard enough negative about Woodford county, Marky Hall, and Myrons parents to last me a life time. However, it is my opinion that it is the responsibility of the moderators to make sure slander or defermation of character doesn't happen on this board. If something happens to a kid because of this board, I think you as the moderator should be held responsible. I am curious to see if it is legal to attack someone on this message board without possible punishment. If there is an attorney that reads this board, can you please fill me in on the law... If not, I will call one in the morning and fill everyone in on my findings. With the new technology today and IP addresses, don't think you can hide behind a screen name. I wish everyone the best of luck these next few weeks. Your friend in Wrestling, Rob Boston P.S. Mr. Moderator, Please remove all negative comments asap! -
Logsdon, I have been hanging out with Coach Carr for 25 years.... You weren't even a twinkle in your dads eyes when we started having these conversations. However, I think Coach Carr, Jimmy Carr, and Nate Carr would all say Jimmy was the best High school wrestler ever, and Nate was the best college and International wrestler. IMO, Jimmy did not have the determination Nate had!!!!!! With Determination you develop discipline... Fahy has competed with the best in the country at his age and older. If he would have started a year late like some of the others he would be wrestling 8th graders nationally. Let fahy wrestle the Freshman division when he is a Sophomore... I bet Kentucky would get another National Champion... Let's compare apples to apples. I really hope you can make it this weekend. We have about 5-6 kids already coming from Kentucky... Woodford guys need to keep working hard to get back on top. By the way, since we are splitting hairs about who is the best... Why in the heck is the Brock Ervin kid ranked 15th....This could be the best Ervin yet! IMO he should be ranked in the top 5 and probably will finish in the top 3 if he can gain a few pounds. Nathan wrestles this kid all the time and he is a hammer.. Good luck to you all and keep training hard..Kentucky wrestling is getting better and it is awesome you guys have this many good guys that it warrants such a debate. Rob Boston

Yeah, It was also hard to say or believe Jimmy Carr was one of the best wrestlers that the United States had to offer when he was a Junior in HS. I think KY has a lot of great wrestlers and I think time will determine who was the best. I am confident we will see Fahy and Ervin wrestle at the next level and possibly at a good Div 1 progam. There are college coaches already showing interest in these young men.

Kentucky10 aka Mack Logsdon, You wouldn't get yelled at for saying fahy isnt the best kentucky wrestler, but you will get laughed at... In my biased opinion, Fahy is the best Kentucky wrestler at this time. Caleb is a close second with Hitchings in third. All three wrestlers are good, however not at the National level of Fahy. Jon was a true freshman last year and dominated the state of kentucky. Fahy was about as close as you can get to AA in fargo, placed at the beast, and the super 32. He is without a doubt one of the best 112lbrs in the country this year. If the ol' saying is correct, " you get what you earn" then he should be #1. Kentucky wrestlers to look out for in the future... John Fahy Caleb Ervin Brock Ervin Garth Yenter Matt Fahy Some kid we don't know from Woodford... By the way, We will be having a camp in Indianapolis this weekend. There will be 3 sessions on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. The cost of the camp is $100. It will be intense drill, tech, and some live. Give me a call at 317-750-4510 if you are interested Logsdon, If you are interested you can stay at my house and have Fahy as your first partner.... Hope to see you there. Good luck to everyone this season, Rob

Updated Rules Interpretation--Great move for Kentucky wrestling..
Rob Boston posted a topic in 2009 Season
Coaches: As you may or not be aware, there has been an updated Rules Interpretation with regard to coaching players on your team while school is in session ...but prior to the first official practice date. This was published in the August, 2009 issue of the Commissioner's Notes. With most all schools now in session ....and the mandatory KHSAA Rules Clinics for all head coaches this year not starting until Feb., I wanted to make you aware of the new interpration. It is, as follows .... REVISED INTERPRETATION CONCERNING BYLAW 25 ISSUED FOR INDIVIDUAL SPORTS (GOLF, CROSS COUNTRY, SWIMMING, WRESTLING, TENNIS, TRACK AND FIELD) Bylaw 25, the Limitation of Seasons, clearly defines what is legal during the school year and in some cases, after the school year is complete. The details of what is allowed in the off-season (i.e. in the fall before practice starts in winter or spring sports, in the spring after the end of fall sports, etc.) have been spelled out by interpretation in the Case Situations and are a result of interpretation by the Commissioner. In consultation with the Board of Control, and following lengthy discussions with staff and representatives of member schools, revisions are being made as to what is allowed by coaches in individual sports during the non-Bylaw 25 periods. A thorough review of possible ramifications has been done by staff and the Board. Member school personnel have expressed concern in these sports as it relates to getting qualified coaches for the high school team due to regulations that restricted those who were involved in outside competition and play (including instruction and lessons) in these sports. These interpretations supersede all previously published interpretations and are in effect as of July 15, 2009. These interpretations DO NOT AFFECT the team sports of volleyball, soccer, football, basketball, baseball or fast pitch softball. School representatives must be very mindful of the provisions in Case Situation BL-25-7 (formerly BL-25-6) to be sure violations do not occur. Case BL-25-6 (NEW) What are the restrictions for a coach being involved in coaching of his/her own players during the school year before the first legal practice date, after the last date for playing a contest in the sports of Cross Country, Golf, Swimming, Wrestling, Tennis and Track? Specific practice and participation dates are in place for each sport, and the interpretative season is the academic school year as far as coaching limitations. This limit on coaching involvement BEGINS ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL AND ends on the earlier of the day following the last day of school or May 31. However, it is recognized that the very nature of the individual sports (i.e. Cross Country, Golf, Swimming, Wrestling, Tennis and Track and Field) is such that participation by individuals may continue during the year and have minimal impact on participation in other sports. Coaching is defined as any activity by the coach at any time the athletes are participating in that coachs sport in a setting in which skills are taught, refined, or practiced. In the individual sports as detailed above, coaching is permitted in the non-season period provided the following provisions are met: 1) Participation may not be required of any student-athlete in any sport specific event outside the limitation of seasons during the school year. There may be no penalties assessed, expressed or implied for non-participation during that period by a student-athlete.; 2) School funds may not be expended (i.e. transportation provided, entry fees paid, uniforms worn, etc.); 3) Coaches must ensure that all representatives of the student-athletes, including parents, are aware that this outside season participation is optional and therefore, the KHSAA Catastrophic Insurance plan is not in effect. 4) All other restrictions related to the scheduling, composition, pool of available personnel, and other logistical arrangements are the jurisdiction of the building Principal for any activity held at a particular local school facility, in compliance with Bylaw 1 of the Association. Please contact me if you have any questions. Butch Cope Assistant Commissioner Kentucky High School Athletic Association (859)299-5472-p (859)293-5999-f -
