    Best Kentucky Wrestler Ever?

I personally hope ATM does so well that he leaves no question that he is the best ever in Kentucky. It would do nothing but good for our state.

    Best Kentucky Wrestler Ever?

Just kidding about the 1.5-3 minutes...but I think Scherer would give him an ok match. Probably a MD to Austin. Maybe a little closer. Scherer was a big and athletic 215. He is undoubtedly better than anyone Austin has wrestled in Kentucky. I wonder how Austin would do against Bruce or Archie Stepp from Sheldon Clark? Talk about a men among boys!

Probably 1.5 to 3 minutes or so.

    Best Kentucky Wrestler Ever?

I would like to have seen Taylor Scherer and ATM wrestle. It may have been a good match.

    Best Kentucky Wrestler Ever?

In my 15 or 16 years at the KHSAA wrestling tournament, ATM and Murton are the most impressive individuals in have watched. They just dominate with such physicality and techinicality of which I have seen no one else have in Kentucky. Not saying Murton is the best, but he is one of them. 3x KY state champ, 1x OH placer as a freshman and had a tech fall and two first minute pins in his state finals appearances. We all know what ATM has done. For anyone discrediting Burroughs' high school ability, when he wrestled, the Senior Nationals were the pinnacle of HS wrestling and had no competition. There was no Flo Nationals or other competing tournaments. All the best seniors went.

    MOW for state ?

The MOW should go to the wrestler who has the most impressive tournament, not the wrestler with the best career or the wrestler with the best season. Most impressive is not easily defined, as it could be the wrestler with the most dominating tournament or the wrestler with the most difficult path to the title. I personally think there are many possible winners for MOW at this tournament, with the Myers brothers, Carr, and Ervin at the top of the list. I can think of a few wrestlers in the past who had a great tournament, but not necessarily the best season or career. Josh Stepp comes to mind from Sheldon Clark in '99. He had a very tough bracket in which he was dominant, but it was his first state championship and he wasnt even a region champ that season. George King from Union County was a first time state champion in 2000, but pinned everyone in the tournament in the first period. He had a 00:49 finals match! I hope the wrestler with the most impressive tournament wins the award and politics can be left out of the equation.

    Best KY Team Ever?

I think the 1994 and 1995 Sheldon Clark teams should get mentioned. If I remember correctly, the '95 team won state without a state champ, but had something like nine 3rd place finishers, when there were only 13 classes. The '94 team was lead by Bruce Stepp, a 3x state champ (189, 189, HWT) and MOW that year. Apparently he was Ohio State bound if not for a terrible ATV accident.

    Gary Canter retiring

I havent posted often, but I think Happy Pappy left one memory off the list that he shared with me: 1-800-Billy Clark, or something to that effect. A certain moderator on this board may find that interesting.

Will Brock be the first 5 timer in KY

Even with the lack of mat time this season, I think Myers was the most dominating wrestler at the state tournament. Cooper is great too, and I think he and Myers would be a good match. I think Myers would win, however. If Brock was bigger he would also give Myers a good match, but I think Myers would win. Just my opinion.

    MOW

I think many wrestlers had a good argument for MOW. I have always thought MOW was for the wrestler who had the most dominating performance at the tournament. It always doesnt work out that way though. With that said, I think both Myers, Cooper, Fahy, and Ervin probably had the best tournaments. Stephen Myers and Cooper destroyed everyone, Ervin and Austin Myers were dominating in the tournament and beat state champs in the finals, and Fahy won each match with ease (it never looks like he has to try to hard).

    MOW

I dont agree with that statement. 152 was not a weak weight class, at least not any weaker than 138 or 145. Myers dismantled Luke Troxell, who is a very good wrestler. I believe he placed 5x and and was a state finalist. Had he not been pinned by Myers he would have been teched, as the score would have been 20-5 if Troxell got off of his back. As for him finishing runner-up if he was at 138 or 145, I dont know that he would have lost to Fahy or Cooper. I think they would have been great matches and Myers would have a great shot at beating either one of them. I was very impressed by Myers and even more impressed by the fact he was up two weight classes from what he had planned to wrestle.

    Question about Alltech Arena

I really enjoyed the Farnham Dudgeon Civic Center hosting the state tournament. I think it was just the right size for hosting Kentucky's state tournament and the atmosphere was unrivaled by any other place I have been to watch wrestling or to compete. I will miss that place. I just hope Alltech Arena can do the trick as well at the Farnhan Dudgeon CC did, and if they decide to put all the mats at one end of the arena then they will likely not compare favorable.
