Just a quick side note. Coach Barnes did not bump him. He asked to wrestled TJ which in my opinion is laudable. It was like a college match they both wrestled hard. TJ won they shook hands and walked off with no celebrations or fussing.

Great Job TJ. 200 wins is a great accomplishment for anyone. This Ryledad is very proud of you. Many of those wins were hard fought! Good Luck at Wisconsin.

Not absolutely positive but doesn't each region have two teams. If i am not mistaken that would leave Simon Kenton out of the picture.

2011 GMVWA Holiday Tournament - Campbell Cty, Ryle Simon Kenton
ryledad replied to eville dad's topic in 2012 Season
Congrats to the Northern Kentucky champs. They (ohio) continue to complain about our wrestlers and make the seeding more fair for the Ohio boys. They keep forgeting that there are no free passes to the finals. All three schools wound up in the top ten. Next year maybe they should consider region 6 champions as sectional champs. What excuse will the Ohioans use next for losing to our men. TJ, Cory, Garth and Kevin congratulations. That tourney is a meat grinder and you deserve a world of credit. Good luck the remainder of the year. -
No offense to any of these guys they are all state champs and damn good ones. Jarvis over Garth. No back points all on their feet. Sullivan over Ervin only because he was a grown man. Not nearly as good a wrestler technically. Osbourne vs. Fahy. great match i don't know if they ever wrestled one another over the years. Reid as well as Hitchings would have their way with Jude. Strong and technically superior. jmo.

Yes, there were 336 good wrestlers who were left off the podium.

I would love to see the tournament at NKU Bank of Kentucky Arena. It is a great facility. However, with school in session parking absolutely sucks, and there aren't enough places nearby to stay so everyone has to travel. Finally, I have a feeling that it would be too expensive to hold there.

Needless to say I am a Ryle dad, and a fan. The Ryle coaching staff is a fantastic group of individuals who give a tremendous amount of time and effort to one of the premier programs in the state. That means absolutely nothing compared to what they do for all the young men in the program who if not for them at times would be lacking for food, shelter, and proper guidance. Ryle wrestling is a team and more importantly a family. Ryle youth, Gray middle school and then Ryle High have been producing good young men for many years and I take great offense to anyone taking pot shots about how someone was handled after a match. My son and many others have won state championships under their coaching. In my opinion the record speaks for itself. Furthermore, ALL coaches in wrestling don't get paid pennies on the hour for what they do so when it comes to opinions like that keep them to yourself.

Great! Now go win a state title!

If they seed the second teer then they should get the weakest 1 seed.
-
I wouldn't make Fausz the favorite until he actually beats Ruschell.

Kentucky doesn't have nearly enough competition to begin to split into divisions. Last time I checked when you walk on to the mat there is only one guy standing across from you. He weighs just the same as you. Lace up those shoes and go after him.

I am assuming you are saying nationally because I don't think there is any in the state that would think they aren't in a class of their own.

I wasn't going to speak on this topic as it has been beat to death. Mark Hall was going to repeat a grade either 7th or 8th when he came to Kentucky from the start. BTW. The Ryle school district is one of the best academically in the state. Gray Middle School is a great place to get an education. Mark Hall the son is no dumby very smart. He made good grades and worked on them accordingly. He spent many nights at my house on the weekends. He is a great kid. Kids get held back in school to enhance their chances all the time. There was a thread a few years ago about kids in Kentucky staying back to become middle school state champs. Whoopee! There is a kid in northern kentucky that is as big as a house who plays football and his dad played in the NFL for years. He got held back in middle school. So what. It is his kid and he is doing what he thinks is best. Some people don't like Mark Hall the dad but I will tell you he drove several of Marks varsity team mates up to Michigan last year on his own dime gave them room and board and some tough workouts with Michigan boys. He didn't have to do it but he did. They didn't come down to wrestle middle schoolers they came to wrestle varsity and most of those matches were in Ohio. He lost three matches this past year. One was a kid from Graham and the other two were Bradbury who is on tough wrestler. He wanted Mark to have some good wrestling partners and be able to wrestle varsity and that mission was accomplished. Good luck to them in the future.
