    Joe Carr VS Andrew Tinsley

No one would happen to have any video of this tournament would they? It would be awesome to see hoptown tourney footage back in their glory days, especially of miguel merrit and the carr/tinsley match.

    Bryce Alexander

Bryce Alexander who placed 8th at 135 at last years state tournament (Henderson Co.) moved to Missouri this year and is now ranked 3rd at 152 in their state (1A). Just to point out how our wrestlers stack up to those from other states.

    update Henderson wrestling

This is just one of the many stupid decisons our school board has made recently. The current school board/superintendent is very unpopular in Henderson Co. and will probably see a big backlash in the upcoming elections(not because of wrestling though). The excuse they made had alot more to do with money, they didn't even mention Title IX. Even though when we hosted our first dual tourney at the school this year the athletic booster club ran the concessions and they said that they were pleased with the profits and hoped that we would host another tournament very soon. Our superintendent seems to always get out of the board what he wants and he was probably the one mainly behind getting rid of Henderson co., as our AD in the past had no problem with it, and continues to have no problem with it. Title IX is not an issue for us and i think Dr. Richey (our superintendent) knows this. In fact he used to run a school system in Ohio that had wrestling, and he mentioned to my father on the phone one night that he hated girls wrestling, and def never wanted to see that in Hend Co., because he felt it was inaproppriate. This is possibly one of the reasons why they wanted to eliminate it out of fears that girls might try and come out. (Though this is admittedly all just speculation) Though I share his feelings about girls and wrestling that is a poor excuse for eliminating a program.

yeah maybe he should move up to like 160-171ish, i hear ohio co. will be pretty weak there next year :-D

Henderson County program needs your help!

No, as of right now, Henderson will not have a wrestling team. Title IX shouldn't be an issue, as girls are allowed to wrestle, thought our superintendent has said in the past that he wouldn't want any girls to be able to wrestle. That could by the one of the real reasons why he is so against wrestling, though we don't have any girls that want to wrestle for us anyway.

Henderson County program needs your help!

The schoolboard recently voted not to elevate wrestling to varsity status, even though it was already a varsity sport, as our A.D. told Julian Tackett before the KHSAA tournament, or else we would not been able to compete in the tournament. And they didn't vote, they just told us without taking a vote that wrestling would no longer continue, apparently they had a meeting about wrestling behind closed doors and voted then to not let it continue, and the only reason anyone knew that the schoolboard would be announcing their decision at the meeting was because my father contacted our district schoolbaord rep and asked him when the decision would be made.

They could transfer if they want, the logical choice would obviously be Union Co. for both it's location and the caliber of the program. The few of our boys that could make their varsity team however haven't seemed very interested in transferring when I've talked to them, though they might come around. Hopefully the school board will change their mind, we have 30 days to appeal their decision.

Henderson County program needs your help!

There is no real update to be given, we are simply waiting until the next school board meeting to hear their decision.

who was the most outstanding wrestler?

Elam, who did win it, I think deserved it after pinning his opponent in the finals with that messed up me, did yall see him limping?
  10. Henderson185

    Most Exciting Match

Without a doubt it was the third and fourth match between Whiting and Payne, if there had been one more minute left on the clock they would have started swinging. Why is slamming your opponent stalling?

    112 2009

Wow imagine the #2 guy in the state being j.v. the next year, anyway I can see Meriweather a 112, he cut from higher than that at the beginning of each weeks practices this year. And yes Dee Leavell is tough.

    103 2009

I don't know how you can say that he's a 2x runner-up to Jarvis and a pretty decent wrestler. If Meriwether can make it to 103 again I can for sure see him placing, if not he'll still be a good 112. Reburn is a good wrestler as well, I think Union's J.V. could make varsity on most of the teams in the state. He did pin Meriweather but Meriweather also beat him earlier in the year, I think they would make a pretty good finals match, and if I'm not mistaken Meriweather has had good matches in the past with Isaac Thomas when he was at 103.

    2008 state(random talk)

he also kicked his opponent in the face when they went out of bounds on a shot

    Team champs

lol we have some good teams, it's just they are the state champs

    Team champs

Union won Region 1 easily. The finals were basically a dual meet between Union Co. and the rest of Region 1.
