Why isn't state going to be seeded?

What GOO said. Until results are maintained fully, this is a mute point. Dodging already occurs by some schools and it ends up biting them in the arse later. Just wrestle and test yourself. College coaches aren't looking for perfect records. They are looking to see how many challenges you have overcome.
  2. I wouldn't call it a butt kicking, more of a lucky match. Caught you at right time for me. Wish we would have met at different times so we could of had a great match.
  3. I want to know why my son is not ranked since he does not wrestle or compete in your state? Please answer that Ranger! LOL, obviously this is a joke. Love the consistency Ranger. Keep putting in the work, most of us appreciate it more than you know.
  4. He didn't do it any favors. Haha, Coach Walls told me I would have had to pin him to get past Bruce winning it. He was going for his third and me winning was going to be difficult enough.
  5. If I had a good Chiropractor, I would have better alignment.

    Not looking forward to state.

Missouri has had a set date with the University forever. Even with Mizzou moving to the SEC they were able to work out a schedule that did not conflict with their college events. They simply schedule away events the week of the tourney. They have nothing in the Arena after tonight I believe. Set up starts tonight after the game and wrestling begins tomorrow and goes all the way to Feb. 25th. They run four classes of boys and 2 classes for ladies. If it is feasible for them to be able to do this, I would think a college in Kentucky could do the same with less sports than a major D1 school. To look at their schedule just go to mshsaa.org and go to wrestling. There has to be a better solution than a high school for Kentucky.

    NFHS Wrestling Survey

I'm all for making things more clear for kids, coaches, and officials. Bring high school and middle school closer to college rules. 4 pt near fall, out of bounds rules. Leave out the riding time. Makes things for everyone closer to the same.

    Region 2 rankings by weight

132 might be a better weight for his body. He is a tall, slender guy. Think he could grow into a tough middle weight guy in college. 141-149 with his frame.

    State Duals

Ohio has 600 high schools that field wrestling teams. Kentucky has 130ish. Big difference in numbers there.

    Rankings mess up.

I think she might be more Greco than Freestyle. She could potentially be given citizenship is she played her cards right.
  11. That's what I had said too. No worries, I was trying to save you some typing by answering.
  12. So did my answer get deleted? lol
  13. This is a choice for wrestlers and their families. If you are selected to go, then you go. If it does not fit into your personal schedule you pass so the next available person is able to attend. You are trying to make this more than what it is if you feel Union is being shunned. They choose not to participate, so if you are upset and want t ask questions. You should probably direct those toward Union coaches so they can answer you, but you will probably get the same response as Ranger does: No thanks. Pretty simple
  14. For those of you who are too young to have seen it live, here is the interview with Alex Green. He does a great job of getting these old guys some recognition in today's format. Take a look and enjoy.

    Semi state seeding

I wish the same thing Panthers. Sad thing is that I don't live in Kentucky anymore but still hate the way the wrestling community is treated by the state. They wanted to grow wrestling and did so with the 32 man bracket but seem to have just stopped there with that momentum. Putting together more efficient tourneys and the best representation of what wrestling truly is would have brought lots of money to the state. Once wrestling families are in and hooked, they probably spend more than any other family. Travel to tourneys, food, hours upon hours of dedication. If the state would have jumped on that then they could have been reaping the rewards now.

    Semi state seeding

This is not mandated by track, this is mandated by your local State Association. Missouri already does this and holds coaches accountable for not putting in results. But, MSHSAA is the one who tells Trackwrestling their procedures. You can have 2 weigh in sheets open, if results or weights are not entered then you are locked out. Track will only do what it is told by the associations, therefore it is not a Trackwrestling problem but a KHSAA problem. All results and weigh ins sheets are verified at district seeding meeting.
  17. @coachteater You are right, I just meant it would be somewhat better method. We have our meetings on the Thursday prior to districts here in Missouri. Any changes need to be made prior to weigh ins and then a reseeding is determined. It is very rare for there to be such moves due to wrestling being the next day. Only changes that really occur are usually because of some type of injury to a wrestler. Coaches get brackets that day, but are not published on Track for viewing to spectators until couple hours prior to tourney.
  18. I feel like as long as the meetings are done at the same time, it doesn't matter when you post them. Every one having a seeding meeting the Sunday prior to regions would eliminate any competitive advantage. Then if a region wanted to post theirs the next day so be it, everyone would already be locked into a weight.
  19. Think Andrew Pottle at heavyweight might have graduated last year. Any Ohio County fans confirm that? Rankings look good as usual Ranger. I'm sure we will see some more changes here in the next couple weeks as football winds down and wrestlers get down to weight.

    Region 8 and Semi-State 4

Wrestlers required to have a 45 minute break in between matches. When running a tourney thru track there is no way around that time scheme. Once results are put in for a bout the time adjusts and will put a time stamp on the next time the wrestlers are able to go. It sucks but it is very efficient. When it is a smaller tourney, it is almost inevitable that you will have to slow down the tourney.

    semi state brackets

I agree whole heartedly with this logic. The point of a semi state is to cut the state in half. Then bring in the best from each half of the state. You could always go back to our district, regional and state format as well. Both scenarios get you the top 16.

    Regionals are this weekend!!!

The baseball analogy doesn't work here. He didn't have to weigh in prior to the game. LOL, also once he wrestles that weight at regionals, the second round he can't change weights because of a bad match up.

    Regionals are this weekend!!!

I don't think you necessarily need a hole in a lineup this year to do it. I am the fourth best wrestler at my weight but I have wrestled down and up several times during the year because we wrestled duals. In the other region, two kids came down that beat me to make me the four seed. My coach comes to me and says, I have looked at brackets and our 52, who is a stud, is going 45 and you will go 52 where I will be the 2 seed. We are going to do this the weekend of regionals. Only way I could know who was in that bracket at the other regional is because it came out before my region. If the brackets came out at the same time, every coach would have that decision to make and not just the coach who is building the team for a championship run. I just think that if everyone else can build their brackets and have them open to the public 3 days in advance, then why cant this region follow suit. Every other state has a protocol that is followed, when I coached here in Missouri it was seeding meeting on Thursday prior to district. Brackets were built that day, state did not allow us to share that information with the public until Friday when wrestling started. Its just like the draws for state, no one knows until all districts are finished, then the state comes out or you would have guys forfeiting all over the place to avoid tough wrestlers until the finals.

    Regionals are this weekend!!!

That is a competitive disadvantage to those schools who set their lineups and hold their kids accountable to that weight. If I am the third best wrestler at 120, and see every bracket come out before me and think I should wrestle at 126 because it gives me an advantage, then that is not good for the sport. Or my coach moves kids around because he thinks they can win a championship if some guys go to a different weight. The other schools did not have the same opportunity because their bracket did not show up until the day of competitions before a decision could be made.
