For those of you who said it's not a money grab by the powers that be explain why we weigh in at 9 a.m., start wrestling at 10 a.m. but finals do not start until 5 p.m., after placing all 8 wrestlers. It's 100% of money grab, rob from the coaches, force everybody to stay there all day so they can make more money on concessions. Seed the tournaments in the worst way possible, so they can then say "See you ask us to seed it, We did and you're still not happy" This is stupid and ridiculous, with absoulutly no common sense injected to the tournament. It is been made patently clear that they do not give a crap about our sport, they just want to get it over in time for basketball to start next week, where I guarentee no coach will have to pay to enter and there will be food to feed their coaches. Am I bitter, yes our sport deserves so much more it terms of respect.

Seeds really are subjective, anyway. In some cases, it's pretty clear who the best wrestlers are in a bracket and for fan's sake, we'd want them to only wrestle when something was on the line (semi's, finals, etc). But, if the college national tournaments have shown us anything this year, it's that seeds really don't matter. #31 pinning #2 at NCAAs and multiple #20 seeds in the quarters, multiple major upsets in NAIA, etc. The issue I have with the KHSAA isn't regarding the seeding (though I understand where others are coming from). It's just not a hill I'm willing to die on. The issue I have is the arrogant ignorance the KHSAA brings to a sport they know very little about with no motivation to learn. The structure and senseless logic make for a bummer of an expensive postseason experience for everyone.

You keep saying this about we should just be thankful because others have worse. That’s not the point that the majority on this Wrestling Forum is saying. Both my girls played HS Basketball. My daughter coaches HS basketball and I can attest that they take 5 coaches and a scorekeeper with them and they sit on the bench and score table for 1 team on the floor with 5 players. The bench is either 7 to 10 players for 1 basket ball floor. Even if you have 1 gym with 3 mats and you happen to have 2 guys up at the same time, that’s 4 coaches that are allowed to be on the floor. I noticed teams that had 8 entries and had 5 coaches on the floor this weekend. Obviously they thought they needed that amount of coaches for their team and chose to be there. If they worked all year with these kids and maybe they work best with certain wrestlers, why shouldn’t they be allowed to coach those kids. Use Union as an example. They have 6/7 amazing coaches. Some work great with lightweights and middle weights. While some work great with upper weights. Which one of those coaches do you think should stay home or sit in the stands for the biggest matches of the kids year? It’s not about the money for these guys but to say “take what your given because other have worse” is a poor argument to stand on the side of the KHSAA side when you’ve been a coach for years and have coached your son and hundreds more. Your not sitting in the stands, and you shouldn’t. You’ve earned your spot my friend!!!!
