Not sure how much seating diddle or Murray state has but I'd hope alot. If the state tournament is moved to the western side of the State Union will pack the stadium more than they already do.

This has been a problem for years not show up to the meetings but complain if something gets voted on that they don't like. I was guilty of that for sometime then I started making meetings and got active with the overall workings. Now I am the secretary of KFWC and I emplore all teams to send a representative to the meetings to voice their opinion and vote. We also need to remember this is about the kids not the adults. We are KFWC which includes teams that are clubs and schools, there should not be a defining line between the two as either way they are full of KIDS that just want to wrestle.

The logic was: If we start later, we will get more football players. As many of the football players who come to wrestling only get a few weeks or tournaments before Region and then state. Or at least that was one of the reasons. Another was that if we went longer, then we would be able to get more of the boarder states MS teams to compete against. Yes, I know that was ridiculous, as all most every state that boarders us are done wrestling before our High School State tournament. If you want to make changes, then as coaches, I implore you to attend the Fall and Spring Meetings, otherwise changes you may not agree with get put into place. It does us no good to complain after the fact.

Boston is probably the most heralded recruit to ever come out of Kentucky. I thought he would have had a great shot but he’s had some hiccups with coaches leaving, transferring from ISU, etc. John Fahy was also a great looking prospect. It just proves how incredibly difficult NCAA wrestling is at the Div I level.

Broadbent has worked well for our middle school and youth but as some have stated, it has little to no concessions, the parking and the entry is horrible for the fans, access to the stands are from the competition floor only. Even with security, it is a logistic headache. No place for staging or warm up mats unless it’s out on the floor similar to horse park. Freedom Hall seems like the best option as long as parking and re entry is worked out to allow people to come and go freely. Plenty of hotels. Main highways from every part of the state leading in and out, and hotel and restaurants everywhere for the teams and fans.

Wayne County will have a few kids going. Last year we had a blast!! Good wrestling with good hosts.

Freedom Hall looks nice with the mats set-up. Doing the girls there together would be great.

Broadbent Arena is a horrible filthy mess. If you think the dirt at the Horse Park is bad, try the seats and everything else at Broadbent. Factor in virtually no consessions, less seats than Alltech and the fact you are not allowed to leave once you park and this would be a very bad choice. Broadbent is OK for MS but Not good enough for HS.

It needs to be tight; Let’s fill the stands and make it loud! Broadbent I think would work as spectators on the floor wouldn’t impact the viewing of those in seats.

Two Things: 1. Maybe it is time for the KHSAA to consider an evaluation system for officials. In WV we used to fill out an evaluation for on officials after each tournament. The forms were anonymous so coaches could be honest. Officials got a chance to review those forms as a self evaluation after each tournament. Officials were then selected for the post season based on how they were evaluated instead of the buddy system we have going on now. We had very young and inexperienced officials on the mat during very important matches this last weekend. 2. I think one possible option would be to bring in a crew from out of state for the state tournament. I see a lot of elbow rubbing and cutting up between certain officials and players/coaches from certain teams. I think that if you are an official that spends most of your season working in a particular region or for your alma mater then you might be subconsciously biased towards those teams during the post season when competing against teams and coaches that you haven't seen all season. Bringing in an out of state crew with no biased would eliminate that issue. Just an opinion.

Have you ever seen WV states? KY blows them away. I will say that when the state tournament was held in Frankfort, it was amazing. Horse Park, not even close, but much, much better than WV.
