NKUs club wrestling team is in its third year of existence. Last year we wrestled in Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio. We also qualified 4 wrestlers for NCWA nationals. We just recently hired on a coach, and plan to work closely with Nick Spatola as well. We have come extremely far in these three years, and plan to keep going. We would love for you to come be a part of the team. Our requirements to join and wrestle competitively : Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours at NKU (to compete) OR enrolled in the pathways to nku program at gateway CTC Good academic standing Cannot have wrestled more then a combined 4 years in any collegiate division Attend Practice! (School comes first, but we still expect you to be at as many practices as possible) We are currently practicing at NKUs CRC Monday & Wednesday at 6pm and Saturdays at 130 until we get closer to the season. College age welcome? A couple guys from NKUs Club Team are interested in this.

Any local referees not going to the state tournament February 20th? NKU is hosting a dual. College rules (riding time, out of bounds , etc) will be used for the matches. Please PM if interested. This would be the first home dual at NKU (at least since the 80s), and our last matches before NCWA regionals.

Hi all, If you live in the Northern Kentucky area, stop in at the Chipotle in Highland Heights (right off of 275 Alexandria exit) between the hours of 12pm-4pm. If you mention NKU Wrestling they will donate 50% of your purchase to our club team. The funding will assist us in covering season costs getting our wrestlers to various tournaments. We are attending 8 tournaments and it gets costly, anycost we can't cover gets put on our wrestlers. Please help us out and enjoy some Chipotle in the process!

Hi all, We are looking for wrestlers still interested in competing to join NKUs NCWA team. Regardless of being a club team, we travel and compete around the region and take it seriously. We are looking for people who want to put the work in that it takes to balance school and wrestling. This is an excellent opportunity to continue wrestling, and participate in the NCWA national championships. We have several tournaments on the schedule this year. I mean we are completely open to playing around with different ideas. Our main goal is just to establish a yearly wrestling related fundraiser that will not be competiting with other tournaments in the NKY area. I'd be open to host an inseason one as well. We just need to get something rolling yearly that will bring awareness to what we are doing here at NKU, and serve as a source of funding for years to come. I know it will take a while to establish it, but our biggest obstacle to what we can do as a team is funding. An offseason/preseason tournament would be cool because it would help grow the wrestling culture in the area as well. I'm just trying to gauge what the interest from local teams would be.

Individual tournaments are much harder to run from a logistics standpoint from what ive seen. This is only our second year as a team as well. Id love to start running a local open tournament in the summer but Im not sure we would be able to pull one off yet. The original plan is to host a preseason dual tournament, possibly november 14th, allowing teams to get practice. We can play with that date however. Im speaking with my director regarding insurance, and spacing to host it. Once everything is reserved, we can start getting committments from teams, and as long as we can get a minimum of four teams, we will hold it.

BadMadDad are you referring to the BoK/bbt arena? As of right now I am thinking early-mid october. I would love to get something going for both middle school and high school, but we may focus on HS for the moment, and getting a few teams to commit to an event. I want to get a successful event running yearly, then maybe we could look at getting an event running for both HS and MS. Im going to talk to our director about getting a solid date down, and if we could get 4 teams to commit, we could always add more refs/mats as needed if more teams decide to participate.

Would anyone be interested if we (NKU) were to host a preseason open/dual tournament in NKY? There doesnt appear to be a tournament of such type, and our program is in need of starting a strong yearly fundraiser.

Hi all, The NKU club team is looking for wrestlers interested in coming out for the team for the 2015-16 season. We are planning to attend around 4-5 open tournaments, and schedule duals around those dates we have in mind. Our club team participates in the NCWA national championship series, and may attend NCWA national duals. This is an excellent opportunity to continue wrestling after high school! We already have a stacked team returning, have recently sealed the deal on a coach, and now have a regulation mat on campus! To join the team, you must be enrolled at either NKU or Gateway Community and Technical College (If you wish to come practice or help, contact us). We are looking to get everyone situtated well before novemember. An informational meeting will be held in the early fall. Official practice will begin in september, date TBA due to the construction on the new rec center.
