  1. http://www.kentonlibrary.org/genphotos/viewimage.php?i=di68691 Looking at the Kenton County Library Faces and Places page and searched wrestling. Great pic of Coach B. back in his highschool days. But who is with him? Any Campbell Co. folks able to identify the other two wrestlers?

Is wrestling a team sport ?

Some teams of wrestlers are just what GOO said of group of wrestlers training together but competing individually. But some wrestling teams do display the team spirit. Some of my favorite moments as a wrestling parent/fan is seeing the kid on the team who has very little chance to beat their opponent but they know their mission is simply to not get pinned to protect the team score as much as possible. I've witnessed kids push themselves to their max and endure incredible pain on to the mat during a match to achieve their mission for their team. There's glory in that and the team and fans recognize it and will congratulate that wrestler like he just won his weight class. That's where I see the team element.

Now I'm confused...Pink socks is Speed from Graves not Frank from Camp Co.

    Great Matches at State

Great display of sportsmanship from the Graves hvy. But seriously, what's up with his two different colored pink socks?

    Campbell vs the world

There were no signs of that at the Region 6 tournament. I would hope the more southern regions of the state will show the same grace and sportsmanship as us northerners.

    Ryle- State tournament

I never said anything about the way the Ryle coaches handled the kids after a match. It was how his teammates treated him after a match. While I don't favor the Ryle coaching style over some of the other styles, I have never witnessed a Ryle coach mistreating a wrestler. Ever. No disrespect for the coaching staff was intended.

    Ryle- State tournament

Ryle will be a powerhouse for a long time to come. But like all sports, the athletes and the coaches can't control everything and some underdogs will rise to the occasion. I was very disappointed to see how one of the Ryle wrestlers was treated by his teammates after a Friday afternoon loss. He was obviously being verbally chastised in a very harsh manner. I have to wonder if the high expectations and pressure was just to much for some of the boys. I don't enjoy watching the Ryle coaches coach either. I admire the calm manner of Camp Co's Bankemper, the enthusiasm of Boone Co's Sherlock and I really enjoyed the joy of coaching displayed by Newports new coach Tim Mosley this year.
